Presales are a great way to reward fans for their loyalty with early access to tickets or discounted ticket prices. On Universe, Presales can be set up with single use access codes to further secure your presale and ensure that codes are not being reused. In this scenario, each fan would receive a unique code for them to access the tickets.
To create a secure presale using single use codes, please follow the below steps:
Create a new ticket type for the presale and set the ticket status to ‘Locked’. If desired, set a ‘start sales’ and ‘end sales’ time frame for this ticket. This will automatically put the presale ticket type online and offline at the times entered.
If there are a certain number of tickets set aside for the presale, please add a quantity. If not, leave the specific ticket type quantity blank, and the presale tickets will sell from the main event capacity entered.
Once you’ve configured your new locked ticket type, navigate to the ‘Access Keys’ page under your Event Editor. This is where you will add your unique access codes to be used for your presale and program the quantity of tickets which the fan can redeem per code.
There are two options when adding access keys:
Adding individual access keys
- Click on the ‘Add Access Key’ button
- Add the ‘key’ (this is the unique access code)
- Set the ‘Applies To’ field to your Presale ticket type
- Set the ‘Limit’ to 1 (this will ensure that codes can only be used for a single ticket purchase)
Bulk upload using the Import from CSV option
- Create a new CSV document and use a single column to add all your access keys (maximum 50,000 access keys per upload batch. Please note, you can create multiple batches if needed).
- When your document is ready, click on the ‘Import from CSV’ hyperlink found at the top of the table and select your document to import
- On the ‘Configure Access Keys’ window, select the ticket type that these access keys should apply to using the ‘Applies To’ field
- Set the maximum number of locked tickets that can be purchased with each key to 1 – this is the amount of tickets which can be purchased per code.
- Hit ‘Save’ and continue. Please note that you will receive an email once the import is complete.
Now that you’ve added your access keys, you have a few options for sharing your codes with your fans:
- Send each fan their unique code (i.e., key) that they will be able to enter on the ticket selection page of the checkout to unlock the presale ticket
- Send each fan their unique ‘Long URL’ that can be found on the ‘Access Keys’ page. By doing so, fans will be brought directly to the ticket selection page of the checkout and will not be required to enter the access key to unlock the ticket.
Note: If a fan opens the Long URL, or unlocks the ticket with their access key before the presale is live (if you have configured a start and end sales date and time), a message will be displayed next to the ticket type that notifies them when the tickets will go on sale.
Tip: Use the ‘Export to CSV’ option to export all ‘Long URLs’
