Presales are a great way to reward fans for their loyalty with early access to tickets and/or discounted ticket prices.
Presales can be set up with varying levels of access (ex. generic access with a special link or single use codes for a very high security presale).
Scenario 1: All fans on the mailing list get sent the same presale URL.
- Create a ticket type for the presale, set the “ticket status” for the presale ticket type to “Locked”.
- If desired, set a “start sales” and “end sales” time frame for the presale. This will automatically put the presale online and offline at the times entered.
- If desired, set a limit of “Tickets per order” for the presale ticket type.
(ex. Max of 2 tickets of “Fan Club Presale” per order – note, this is per transaction, fan can purchase additional tickets in a second transaction).
4. Navigate to Access Keys. Add in the Key (this is the Access Key that reveals the locked ticket type), select the ticket type which the key applies to, set a number of total tickets which can be purchased using this key (in this example, 500 of 1000 total tickets available can be purchased with this key).
Finally, the Long URL is the URL which can be shared with fans with the Key already applied.
If a fan clicks the presale URL before the presale is live, this is what they will see! They will see the locked ticket type, but it will not be available for sale yet.
If the presale is live, and the fan clicks the URL with the access key already applied or has manually entered the access key, the locked ticket type will be revealed and available for purchase.
Note: In this scenario, the fan can share the access key and URL online or with friends and they will be able to see and purchase tickets, but random visitors to the Universe event display page will not see the presale tickets for sale.
If the presale needs to be restricted further, consider using single use access keys.
