On Universe, ticket holders can transfer their ticket to another person. This is a setting which event hosts can choose to enable or disable (located in their event’s Advanced Settings section).
When the original ticket holder transfers a ticket successfully and it is accepted by the new ticket holder, a new line item is created in the Universe reporting (Orders report and Tickets report). There are a few other reporting behaviours linked with ticket transfers explained below:
In the Orders report:
- The new attendee will have a new order ID and will appear as a new line item. Their order will display with a 100% discount against it. It has been created as a free order (a ticket with no funds against it).
- This is because the funds were paid by the original ticket holder, hence the funds appear against the original ticket holder’s order line item.
- If there was 1 ticket in the order, which was successfully transferred, the original ticket holder’s “Ticket Quantity” column will show as 0, and the ticket will appear in the “Ticket Quantity” column of the new attendee.
- The new attendee will have the discount code TRANSFER show up in the Discount Code column.
Here’s an example of the Orders report, with the original ticket holder’s order in red, and the new attendee’s order in green.
In the Tickets report:
- The new attendee will have a new order ID and ticket ID and will appear as a new line item. Their ticket will display with a 100% discount against it. It has been created as a free ticket (a ticket with no funds against it).
- This is because the funds were paid by the original ticket holder, hence the funds appear against the original ticket holder’s ticket line item.
- The “Ticket Status” for the original ticket holder will display as “transferred” , and the ticket status for the new attendee will appear as closed, paid, or ended – depending on the payment processor and timing.
- The new attendee will have the discount code TRANSFER show up in the Discount Code column.
- Lastly, the original ticket holder and the new attendee will have two different QR codes (the original ticket holder’s QR code will become invalid and will not scan for entry to the event).
